Operation ARNOLD!!!

Today commences Operation ARNOLD--me and bf's plan to pack, prep, and drive our way across the country--up the east coast anyway--to the second largest bodybuilding competition in the world--THE ARNOLD CLASSIC!

Since i'm at work most of the day, he is in charge of beginning our packing for the trip.  We are leaving bright and early on Thursday so we need to have everything ready to go tomorrow afternoon before we go to my parents' house to spend the night--they are watching my baby boy

Not only does this trip require us to back clothes, but since my competition is so close, we also need to pack MEALS!  I know I know, i'm going to look like a crazy person rolling up to a hotel with a giant cooler and our kitchen microwave (since we already checked and our room doesn't have one) but it's all in the name of fitness!  Which of course is the whole purpose of the Arnold anyway!

So i guess i feel a little more hardcore now that i'll be cooking up days' worth of fish and veggies and bringing along tupperware, egg whites and oats to cook in our hotel room to stay on my diet.  Better to be prepared than to have to drive around Columbus, Ohio searching for food that I can actually eat.  Plus i'll be able to spend more money at the EXPO!!!

I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one whose packing list includes: egg whites, oats, brush, hair dryer, makeup, sports bra.

ANYWAYS this is how I will be spending the last half of my LAST spring break ever and I could not be more excited.  I've never been to a bodybuilding show and I'm so excited that my first gets to be the Arnold!  Even though it is in such an unexciting town.  BUT Bf and I are already planning on saving to attend Olympia in the fall--which just so happens to be in...wait for it...VEGAS!!!

I just wish today would go by faster at work so I can get home and get cooking and packing!!!  All after a hellacious leg workout and cardio with the bf of course!  Hope you all have a great day!

My Super Packed weekend!

This weekend was slammed packed full!  Friday evening the bf and I drove to my parents' house to spend the night since i had TWO demos the next day.  Friday night was spent doing laundry and prepping meals for the next day since me and the bf were going on a mini road trip--from acworth to peachtree city to alpharetta and BACK to acworth.

We got up bright and early on saturday, ate our breakfast, packed up the car with my OhYeah! samples and headed out!  The first demo was in Peachtree City from 9-11 and the second was in Alpharetta from 12-2.

Both demos went pretty well, with the exception of one particularly hostile woman who for some reason was mad at my for giving things away for free. I resisted my obviously lawyerly temptation to argue with her and put her in her place so I was pretty proud of myself. The second demo was pretty quiet but a success nonetheless.

We got back to the parents' house and I was just completely exhausted.  We ended up taking a much needed day of rest.  Good thing...because Sunday was FULL of activity!

Sunday morning we got up and headed to the gym.  I had training with Big E, my trainer.  We started early and he basically desecrated my shoulders--or CAPS as he likes to call them.   After the 45 minute shoulder crushing, bf and I headed over to the high school down the street to meet Big E and Jill, the other trainer for boot camp.

Now i have been dying to make it to this boot camp but the weather has been anything but cooperate these past few weeks.  Sunday was PERFECT!

Big E's boot camp is definitely not the typical boot camp.  We started by running on the field, down each yard line and then doing 10 jumping jacks at the end of each line.  After that we ran stadiums, flipped tires, dragged tires, pushed football dummies, and a bunch of other awesome and challenging stuff.  After this workout, i was down for the count...or so i thought

During boot camp my daddy called me.  I called him back and he invited me and bf to this mountain bike demo he stumbled upon during his ride.  We get there and end up testing out brand new mountain bikes on an hour long ride!  i was STARVING by the end of all this.  and incredibly tired.  Bf and I passed out quite early last night--well we had to...I had to teach spin at 545 this morning.  And let me tell you...my butt was not feeling not having any cycle shorts on during that demo ride!!

my HECTIC and beautiful life :-)

I cannot believe it has been over a week since I have posted.  A lot has happened since then so I will recap this past weekend since everything else is sort of a blur at this point.

Friday night the bf and I (along with my daddy and some friends) moved furniture into our new apartment.  We had planned on staying the night but definitely didn't have anywhere near the stuff we'd need to do so--meaning the bf left pillows at his parent's house and we had sort of procrastinated on repacking our clothes.  Needless to say we ended up spending the night at my parent's house.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and brought clothes to the apartment.  I had to rush off to go meet my fellow OhYeah! Ambassador Lauren at a demo we decided to do together so I didn't have time to unpack.

The demo was at the Grand Opening of the LAfit that I teach spin at.  And man was this place packed!  We set up our table towards the staircase and started handing out goodies.  With all of the people there, we literally were forced to leave when we ran out of samples!

me and lauren at our demo

After the demo I headed back to my parent's house for more clothes!  when all was said and done, bf and I were all moved in and worked on hooking everything up until late Saturday night.

Sunday we headed back to the parent's house since I had training and we needed to do laundry--sadly our apartment only came with washer/dryer hookups.  By the time we got back to the apartment, it was 4PM and i had homework to do.  Basically we had a boring, yet very productive weekend.

Getting stuff done!

This weekend was all about being productive.  well...sort of...

Friday was my first day off of the gym in a while so it was nice to get to relax.  and by relax i mean actually do my laundry.  The bf and I also finally got to watch some of our shows that we have recorded over the past few weeks so it was really nice to finally get to spend some time together.  most people think that if you live with your significant other then you spend a lot of time together...FALSE!

Anyways so Saturday we were going to get up early, go bikini shopping for my competition, go climb stone mountain, and go out dancing!  yeah...no.   We got up around 830--which, if you know me, you know this is sleeping IN--and had breakfast.  Another morning of egg whites and plain oats for me all mixed together with a LIIIIIIIIITLE bit of salsa.  Then we got ready and drove to stockbridge to buy me an itsy bitsy teeny weeny competition bikini!

We got to the store and i was instantly in love with this little custom bikini shop!  The lady who owns the place was SO helpful and really made me feel comfortable walking around in my 5inch heels while trying on bikinis.  She brought me different suits to try on and helped me figure out which style/color looked best!

I tried on everything from orange to pink to highlighter yellow!  BUT i finally fell in love with MY SUIT!  I won't reveal the color quite yet but i am SO excited about it.  This was the first suit this woman has ever made in this color!!!  I should have it this coming weekend!!

Anyways...bf and i left the bikini shop and ate lunch in the car--yes we packed food for a short trip haha.  We decided that stone mountain was NOT going to happen considering it was 4 degrees outside and I didn't feel like being blown off of a mountain by 80 mph winds.  So we made a trip to the sporting goods store.  After a few other stops along the way home, we were starving.  We stopped for sushi and had some of the best sashimi!  (don't worry i had low sodium soy sauce and BARELY touched it)

We got home and were just pooped.  We ended up snuggling and watching TV for the rest of the night--something we never get to do.

The next morning was training with E.  We hit shoulders HARD and then, since boot camp was cancelled due to sub-zero temperatures, bf and I did abs.  The rest of the day was spent doing homework, cooking fish for the week, and dinner w/bf's parents--and yes, we did both bring our own food.  Surprisingly we weren't interrogated or made to feel horrible for not eating what was being served.  Everyone was genuinely curious about what we were eating and why.  This was so refreshing!

I could really use another weekend! How was your weekend?  What healthy things did you do?

day 2! Easy Peasy!

Six weeks...that's all the time I have left to cut fat and get bikini ready!  well...actually...it's more like 5 weeks and 4 days!  EEEEEKKKKK!!!!  oh well, i am on the right track with my diet and workouts and I am starting to feel like I might be able to pull this off!

After yesterday I realized how this food is going to affect my body.  I am eating 6-7 times a day--basically the same thing every meal throughout the day minus breakfast and the one protein shake i'm allowed--just until the end of this week.  I've had to cut out my intra-workout supplement, my pre-workout, and basically anything other than sweet potato, tilapia (or orange roughy--which i've never tried), egg whites, steel cut oats, and asparagus.  Fortunately I get to have one protein shake a day for this week and I can snack on natural PB or almond butter or almonds.  BUT those come out next week so I am trying not to rely on them at all.

I know most people probably think i'm nuts for limiting myself like this--i know my mom does--but I really think it is going to be worth it in the end.  It is all about sacrificing and committing to the goal of actually being competitive at this competition.

In addition to dieting, i am also lifting every day in the gym and teaching spin twice a week.  I am going to have to incorporate more cardio pretty soon to get really lean so I will have to really plan out my schedule to fit it in.

ALSO this weekend me and the bf are traveling to Peachtree City for an OhYeah! demo.  ANNNNNNNND We're going to make a not-so-on-the-way pit stop to bikini shop!  I'll keep you guys updated on what i find.  Finally, I am going to order my tanning stuff and bikini bite--the stuff that keeps my tiny bikini bottoms stuck to my ass and prevents them from riding up--this week!

BUSY BUSY week for me!!  Tell me about your week and weekend plans!

it's getting serious!

I haven't mentioned it a whole lot but if you'll remember back to my first post, I am currently training for a bikini competition.  Come to find out that competition is coming up QUICK and I feel anything but ready.  SIX weeks guys, that's all I have left to look incredible and I'm seriously far behind.

My trainer emailed me today and told me my diet gets MAD strict on Monday.  Actually he said "strict as a mugg" but I didn't think i could pull it off as well as he does.

Either way, I have to waive BYE BYE to berries, apples, and pretty much anything other than tilapia, asparagus, egg whites, chicken, sweet potatoes and plain oats. I get one protein shake per day and no more pre workout!!  grrrrr i'm starting to dislike this idea!  OH WELL...it'll all be worth it in the end.

On a slightly more positive note, i made one of the BEST investments the other day!  A SIX PACK BAG...

I have wanted one of these things for a while now and so i finally broke down and spent the money on it.  Basically it is a giant lunch box.  It holds EVERYTHING i need for the day and keeps is nice and cold so i don't have to try to shove it into the fridge.

I used it today and I am officially in love.  It also holds protein shakes or water bottles or produce in the side pouches and my vitamins and silverware on top!

Here are two of the meals I had packed in there today:
this is going to be my go-to meal starting monday (minus the brown rice).  Tilpia and asparagus.

I also packed a salad with chicken, blueberries, and broccoli slaw.

Then my third meal that i've had today (fourth if you count breakfast) was at home so I didn't need it packed up.

Chicken with mixed veggies and steamed sweet potatoes with cinnamon and splenda.  If you aren't a fan of sweet potato but want to love them--because their SO SO good for you--try cutting them into cubes and putting them into a tupperware with cinnamon and splenda.  Microwave for about 3 minutes with the top on and they'll be perfectly steamed and SO good that you'll never believe they're good for you.

Anyway that was my day SO far.  I'm really nervous about the upcoming weeks and being able to get my body where it needs to be in such a short period of time.  Any words of wisdom or encouragement will be greatly appreciated!
